Keanu Reeves, scientists name deadly substances for fungi after the actor

German researchers have discovered chemicals that can kill fungi. So far, nothing special. The peculiarity of this news is that the researchers wanted to name these substances keanumycins, in homage to the actor Keanu Reeves.
The study was then published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, in which it is explained that these lipopeptides are so lethal that they are reminiscent of some of the characters Keanu Reeves played on the big screen (e.g. in 'John Wick' or 'The Matrix').
Keanumycins will be an excellent starting point for the production of drugs to combat fungi.

What will these substances do against fungi

Keanumycins will be an excellent starting point for the production of drugs to combat fungi. Besides being particularly effective against fungi, keanumycins are not very harmful or toxic to human cells. This latter characteristic would differentiate them from other substances used so far.

John Wick is about to return to the cinema

Keanu Reeves is about to return to cinemas around the world with the fourth film in the John Wick saga. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the film will be released in the US on 24 March. The fourth chapter of the film saga was supposed to arrive in May 2022 but has since been postponed due to the pandemic.
