The actors who said goodbye to the cinema, momentarily or forever

Having a long career in Hollywood is not the easiest thing in the world and very few actors have managed to do it.

Sometimes it is luck in the choice and performance of films, other times personal choices that can affect more or less in an important way also the film career.

Other times, actors voluntarily choose to retire from the stage, temporarily or permanently. This is the case, among others, of actors like Cameron Diaz, Jack Nicholson or Robert Redford, who for different reasons, at some point, said goodbye to the world of cinema.

This is the case, among others, of Cameron Diaz. The actress stopped acting in 2014 and in 2018 she said she wanted to devote herself completely to her private and entrepreneurial life in the wine industry. In 2022, however, she announced her return to the world of cinema.

The actor and director Robert Redford, creator of the Sundance Film Festival together with Sydney Pollack, officially announced his retirement from the scene in August 2018. His last film as an actor was 2017's "Our souls at night", in which he starred alongside Jane Fonda.
